Social Outreach and Community Growth

Blood Drive

The Knights of Columbus, in conjunction with INOVA, hold blood drives at St. Francis de Sales. Parishioners’ involvement include blood donation, calling donors, assisting in registration, and providing baked goods for the drive.

Compassionate Heart of Mary
A Catholic bereavement group whose dual mission is to offer assistance for the grieving by offering educational and informational sessions, and support meetings; and also to pray for the deceased by offering Masses.

Giving Tree Social Justice Committee

A year-long outreach program serving the needy of the community. Throughout the year, the Giving Tree in the narthex is decorated with tags requesting items for the needy. During the Advent season, a much larger tree is decorated with holiday gift tags to benefit Catholic Charities, the Loudoun Community Holiday Coalition, Heritage Hall Nursing Home, Birthright, Emergency Shelters, Transitional Housing, and local residents in need. Donated gifts are collected, sorted and distributed by volunteers to benefiting organizations.

Homeless Ministry Join us in helping our homeless brothers and sisters in the DC Metro Area! The Homeless Ministry is open to everyone in the parish. Our ministry will concentrate on collecting comfort items, preparing and serving food, and working directly with the homeless. There are ways to serve for all ages!

Respect Life Committee

The focus of the Respect Life Committee is to educate and deepen the respect of human life from birth to death. We promote this here at St. Francis as well as the community in general by participating in the annual March for Life, promoting awareness of outreach programs for pregnancy support agencies, e.g., Project Gabriel, Lifeline, Birthright; abortion healing; and care for the elderly and dying. The committee promotes advocacy on the national, state and local levels to adopt laws that defend and protect human life. And finally, encourage prayer among our parishioners to promote a “Culture of Life” and respect for human dignity.

Share Sunday

Generous food donations from parishioners reflect our parish’s commitment to feeding the hungry, one of the seven corporal mercies. On the second Sunday of each month, a trailer will be available during all Mass times for collections of food, to be delivered to Catholic Charities and Interfaith Relief. Our mission is to help keep the food pantries stocked, working with Catholic Charities to strengthen and mend the Body of Christ.
